Ingredients-

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green chili pepper, minced (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro




Directions-

In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.

Rinse the rice in a colander until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.

Drain the rice and transfer it to a large pot. Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through. Drain the rice and set aside.

Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and green chili pepper (if using) and cook for 1 minute more.
